Chesas da Cultura Engiadina

The Atelier Segantini was built in 1897 as a model for the large Engadin Alpine panorama that Giovanni Segantini planned for the 1900 Paris World Exhibition and is now a memorial and small museum.

Turo Pedretti's, artist painter, studio is now an exhibition space, while the studio of his son, Giuliano Pedretti, sculptor, has been authentically preserved. Together, they reveal the exciting work of these two persons of a family of Engadin artists.

The Berry Museum, housed in the Villa Arona in the heart of St. Moritz, is dedicated to the spa physician and painter Peter Robert Berry (1864-1942). The majority of the oil paintings, pastels and drawings created over 40 years are owned by the family.

In Cafè Badilatti's own coffee world, you can learn all about the history of coffee and its journey from the plant to the cup. Historical photos, paintings and exhibits show the importance of coffee hundreds of years ago.

The camera obscura on the tower of the silo facility at the Bernina maintenance base is a windowless room. Light falls through a hole in the wall onto the concave inner wall and reflects the image of the landscape - an unexpected way of viewing the landscape.

Since the transfer of the ancestral home of the von Salis and later the von Planta families to the Fundaziun de Planta foundation, the Chesa Planta Samedan is now open to the public as a cultural center. It is a stronghold of Romansh culture and a competence center for the Romansh language and culture.

In the Cresta & Bob Museum St. Moritz, you can experience what bobsleigh and Cresta and their tracks are all about. The thrill of speed can be felt here just as much as the team and sporting spirit.

A unique museum displays the traditional carriages and tools from the 19th century. All the beautiful sledges that Danco can no longer use are on display here, as well as an interesting collection of tools that tell the story of Engadin farmers.

The St. Moritz Design Gallery culturally enriches the Serletta parking garage between the train station, the lake and Badrutt's Palace Hotel. Along the pedestrian passageway, 31 illuminated display cases are installed in which exhibitions of valuable posters and historical photographs are staged every year.

The Dokumentationsbibliothek documents the history, the present and the development of St. Moritz. It is the memory of the municipality of St. Moritz. The collection includes photographs, image data, audio-visual media, books, posters and much more.

In the medieval residential tower in the heart of Samedan, changing exhibitions on crafts, design, architecture and settlement construction can be seen. The themes deal with the past, present and future of southern Graubünden. The aim is to explore the history and stories behind the built environment.

The Kulturarchiv Oberengadin is a public institution that collects documents on the culture of the Engadine and makes them available to the public. It was founded in 1988 as an association in order to become a place for the preservation of documents on Engadin history.

The Mili Weber Museum is idyllically situated on the edge of the forest above Lake St. Moritz. The museum is named after the artist Mili Weber (1891-1978), who lived and worked in the house for 60 years and turned her home into a complete work of art.

The Museum Alpin is located in the Chesa Delnon, a stately Engadine house dating from 1716. It was founded in 1971 by the Pontresina Mountain Guides Association; here the mountain world has found a multifaceted exhibition venue.

The Museum Engiadinais is a collection of historic rooms and parlors as well as objects and building elements from the Engadin. It was built by the architect Nicolaus Hartmann jun. on behalf of the collector and brewer Riet Campell from Susch.

The house in the heart of Sils Maria, where the philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche spent many summers, was privately owned for a long time. In 1959, a group of supporters founded the "Nietzsche House Foundation in Sils Maria". They bought the house, had it renovated and opened a museum there in August 1960.

The Olympia Bob Run Museum with the Run of Fame and the exhibition in Celerina is located on the site of the world's first bobsleigh run, the founding site of the oldest bobsleigh club in the world and has one of the most important collections of bobsleigh history in the world.

The Segantini Museum houses the most extensive and important collection of works by Giovanni Segantini, the great symbolist and innovator of Alpine painting. The building was designed by Nicolaus Hartmann and inaugurated in 1908.

The Sils Museum, formerly the Andrea Robbi Museum, is now dedicated to the cultural history of Sils and the Upper Engadine. The artist's oeuvre serves as a point of departure, and the historical view is accompanied by aspects of the present.
