About Us

Culture needs care, culture needs remembrance, culture needs homes: 19 cultural institutions between Maloja and Zuoz, between Samedan and Pontresina have joined forces under the name "Chesas da cultura Engiadina". These are museums and studios, libraries and archives, galleries and exhibition spaces that represent the diversity of Upper Engadin culture. Whether art or language, architecture or philosophy, food, alpinism or sport - the houses preserve a broad spectrum of regional cultural history and communicate it to locals and guests in exhibitions and numerous events.

Together

Together we are strong: we have formed an association to promote exchange between the institutions, to better represent our interests to politics and the public as well as to increase the visibility of regional culture. We do not strive for financial profit, but for cultural benefit. This means to spread the knowledge about our houses, to seek attractive cooperations and to explore new avenues. We have been organizing the Engadiner Museumsnacht since 2021, and in 2024/2025 we will be hosting the first major joint exhibition with Splendur e sumbriva - Light and shadow in the Engadin. Culture is created by different perspectives. Culture is created by exchange. Culture is created through cooperation.

Acknowledgments

We would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the success of our association and the realization of our first major joint exhibition. On the one hand, these are the public sponsors - the canton of Graubünden, the Maloja region and the municipalities of the geographical Engadin: St. Moritz, Celerina, Pontresina, La Punt, Sils, Bever, S-chanf, Bregaglia and Samedan. Many private foundations have also supported us: The UBS Kulturstiftung, the Ernst Göhner Stiftung, the Biblioteca Engiadinaisa, the GKB Beitragsfonds, the Stiftung Kultur im Waldhaus Sils, the Otto Gamma Stiftung, the Hans and Liliane Kiener Stiftung, the Tino Walz Stiftung and Repower. Many have contributed with deeds: the Engadiner Post as media partner, the Hotel Bernina with the vernissage and the Lia Rumantscha with the translations into Romansh. Valposchiavo Turismo, St. Moritz Tourism and Engadin Tourism were also involved as partners. Thank you very much!
