Château Papillon des Arts de St.Moritz, St. Moritz

Bridge builder: The Château Papillon des Arts de St. Moritz is located in fashionable St. Moritz, right at the foot of the legendary Dracula Club. The little wooden castle sees itself as a "bridge builder of the arts and cultures" that aims to bring together international and local artists, art collectors and enthusiasts. And as an "enclave promoting Engadine identity" in polished St. Moritz. Instead of white, sterile exhibition rooms, the works of art are displayed on wooden walls, in rooms with cozy open fires. A not-so-secret bar invites you to sit down and take in the art over a coffee or wine. Occasionally there are also dinners amidst the art. Once a month, usually on the first Wednesday of the month, the "Kulturpasta" takes place. This is a cultural salon that brings together artists from the Upper Engadin, Lower Engadin, Bergell, Val Müstair and Poschiavo. However, owners of second homes, people from the Lower Engadin and world-travelers are always warmly invited and integrated into the evenings, which are usually always focused on a cultural theme and aim to promote exchange.

Permanent Exhibition

Art: 1-5 changing exhibitions take place every winter and summer. The program focuses on: Art by local artists or with a connection to the Engadin or on young contemporary art from Africa. Combining apparent opposites and always boldly trying out new approaches - that is the château's DNA.
Innovative: The art exhibitions, the program, the opening hours and the concept not only want to offer an innovative stage to young/local artists and thus promote local art in particular, no, the Château also wants to build up young people interested in culture by offering budding art and culture lovers the opportunity to find access to culture more easily than elsewhere, without inhibitions: At the Château's "Social Bar", anyone can drop by for a beer or a coffee, and immerse themselves in art in a completely informal way. There is no entrance fee, just a voluntary cultural collection. Instead of opening hours that coincide with working hours like other museums, the Château is often open in the evenings so that you can relax and discover art after work. Occasionally, people dance the night away until late. The local snowboarder and carpenter and the art collectors of the international stage. United in the shared creative frenzy of the spirit of the valley.
